WVU’s new and successful approach to substance use
A pilot program for a new and unique approach to substance abuse recovery in West Virginia based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has resulted in 64% of people receiving treatment. Guests Steve Davis, associate professor at West Virginia University’s School of Public Health, and Herb Linn, program director at the WVU Health Affairs Institute, talk with host Sheila Hyland about the success and hopes for the unique WV PEERS program — a pool of state-certified peer recovery specialists who are on call to go help with whatever or wherever a person might be having difficulty with substance abuse.
