As a Senior Program Manager at the WVU Health Affairs Institute, William King’s role involves overseeing the development and implementation of various public health initiatives. His current experience and expertise lie in home and community-based services (HCBS) as well as program evaluation. In this capacity, Will works closely with other members of the Institute to ensure that programs are designed to meet the needs of West Virginians and are implemented in an efficient and effective manner.
My current professional interest is enhancing awareness and access to public health programs in West Virginia. I am currently the program manager on the Children with Serious Emotional Disorders Waiver Education and Outreach for Medicaid Members, their caregivers, and Providers as well as the State Opioid Response Evaluation.
My experience in Home and Community-Based Services includes work on the ARP Education and Outreach initiative for the four HCBS waiver programs as well as the Personal Care program. In this capacity, Will was responsible for helping develop and implement outreach strategies that included increasing awareness of various HCBS waiver programs and personal care services available to individuals in need. He worked closely with DHHR’s Bureau for Medical Services, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that individuals and families have access to the resources and support they need to live independently in their homes and communities.
Additionally, Will has experience in program evaluation working closely with DHHR’s Bureau for Behavioral Health by monitoring and evaluating the State Opioid Response measures. This work in program evaluation has allowed the state to develop effective monitoring and evaluation plans that ensure programs are meeting their goals and objectives and that SOR funds are used to the best efficacy.
Will’s project management experience has enabled me to oversee the development and implementation of various programs, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget. His combined experience in workforce development, home and community-based services, program evaluation, and program management has helped him make a better West Virginia by improving public health and healthcare access.
