As the Assistant Director of Program Management, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance, Johnathan Herczyk coordinates and supervises efforts to develop, manage, and deliver high-quality products on schedule, within budget, and that meet clients’ needs. He facilitates communication and efficient collaboration while managing interdisciplinary teams to improve the health, welfare, and quality of life for West Virginians. Johnathan partners with stakeholders from the Health Affairs Institute, the West Virginia University community, and external partners to proactively identify and resolve issues that may adversely impact project planning and execution while also developing and improving methodologies and tools to facilitate the success of projects.
In addition to mentoring and supervising Program Managers, Johnathan serves as a liaison to the Institutional Review Board for the Health Affairs Institute, where he applies his knowledge and expertise in federal and university specific regulations and programs. Additionally, Johnathan assists in managing the Student Experiential Learning Program, which provides undergraduates, graduate, and doctoral students invaluable experience and opportunities to apply skills and knowledge gained from coursework to solve real-world problems.
Johnathan is currently a PhD Candidate whose interests are in investigating the experiences and impact of loneliness among rural populations, specifically those seeking or receiving behavioral health services for substance use disorder. He is also interested the development and implementation of technology services to improve access and outcomes for rural and chronically ill populations. Johnathan aligns these interests with partnerships with the Home and Community-Based Services, specifically on the Telehealth Pilot and Extended Telehealth Pilot.
